The Arrival

Our community preceptor (Dr. Michael Site), together with some of the faculty, accompanied us to the Barangay Hall of Barangay Pilar. This was our first time at the assigned community.

Our First Ocular Survey

This is what Barangay Pilar looks like.

The people there were very hospitable. The place was peaceful, no air pollution, and the houses were far apart.

Farming is their main source of income. This is a picture showing a machine they use for farming.

The Making of Model Trash Cans

The finished product. This is a waste segregation project. With the help of the Barangay Officials, this project was a success. These trash cans made of bamboo ("kawayan") served as an example of waste segregation for the people to follow.

Waste Segregation Tarpaulin

This tarpaulin was displayed at Pilar Health Center as part of Community Health Education.

Finally, the tarpaulin was placed at the Health Center together with the model trash cans for segregation. This was all possible with the help of the Barangay Officials ("kagawads") and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs).
